FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Doddridge County Prosecuting Attorney, L. Elizabeth “Betsy” Coffey, has announced a new position at the Doddridge County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Coffey had previously asked the County Commission to approve the hire of an Investigator for the office in November. The position will be a support staff position that will allow the office to be more efficient in prosecution and to continue to work closely with the Doddridge County Sheriff and the West Virginia State Police. The investigator will consult with law enforcement and assist the Prosecuting Attorney in preparing indictments to present to grand jury, ready evidence for presentment at trial, assist in witness preparation for trial, and be a liaison between the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and other agencies such as the United States Marshal’s Service and the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office. This position is essential and will allow for the office to follow up with witnesses and additional information that comes into the case after it has been handed over from law enforcement. It will allow for more contact with victims and family members as criminal cases move through the process from charging to trial. Coffey reports that she has hired Andy Pringle, of Doddridge County, West Virginia, who is retiring from the West Virginia State Police at the end of 2023. He will be sworn in and start employment on January 2, 2024.
